Maureen at the Palace
Manager of The Centre @ Halton, Maureen Richardson, had already attended a special investiture ceremony to receive her award of the British Empire Medal in mid April. Then, to make her year even more special, she and husband Carl were invited by Her Majesty the Queen to a Garden Party at Buckingham Palace in May.
This was an amazing event for Maureen and Carl to attend. Not only were all the senior members of the Royal Family there, including HRH Prince Charles as well as the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, but also a number of the successful Olympic athletes who had also received awards in the New Year’s Honours list.
They had the chance to meet a wide range of award holders and their families from all over the the Commonwealth, and for Maureen and Carl this was a once in a lifetime experience. Maureen said:
“ This was a very special day and one that I will always remember. We had the chance to meet all sorts of interesting people in such an iconic and beautiful setting. It was lovely to be so near the Queen and other members of the royal family.
Truly an unforgettable day, and I was proud to represent The Centre and its volunteers and helpers at this very special event.”
