Charity Piano Recital
As part of a Land’s End to John O’Groats charity cycle, prize winning pianist Edward Pick will be giving a concert recital at The Centre on Tuesday August 11th at 7.30pm.
Inspired by a very brave friend who has Multiple Sclerosis, Classical pianist Edward Pick is cycling from Land’s End to John O’Groats this August, performing piano recitals along the way, to raise money for the MS Society. His support crew (Mum and Dad!) are towing a piano around for the whole trip! He kicks off the tour on 1st August by performing some jazz, popular and show tunes at 1pm in the bandstand at Land’s End.
Then, Edward will wind his way up the length of Great Britain, over three weeks, performing 11 Classical recitals along the route. The programme will include delightful music by Schubert, Chopin and Debussy.
Edward has been training very hard over the past year, whilst also juggling his concert and teaching commitments in London with planning the whole trip – from booking the venues and accommodation to promoting the event. Edward planned the entire route from start to finish, and has ended up with a very rural course, totalling 964 miles, with 17,500 metres of hill climbing! On top of this, he carries out much of the necessary routine maintenance work on his bike, which has made for an extremely busy year.
Edward is extremely grateful to all who have donated generously already, and he hopes to raise as much money as possible for the MS Society, to provide valuable funds for the vital research which the society supports.
Tickets are only £8, which will include refreshments.
