Come and join Hearts of Halton WI, make new friends, have some fun and get involved.
We meet at 7.15pm on the 3rd Wednesday of the month.
What happens at our meetings
We usually have a speaker, entertainment or an activity, time for a brew and something tasty, with some socialising. We hear from our President and our Secretary with the latest news, events, information or campaigns, there’s always something of interest to hear about. We have a raffle each month with items donated by our members, and a competition. The winner of the competition for 2024 was presented with an engraved crystal and will keep that until next year.
We have heard speakers on topics including Making Chocolate, a Children’s Hospice, the HadzaTribe of Tanzania, a talk by a former prison officer, we held a pizza and quiz night, a cheese and wine night for our AGM, and an excellent birthday party in December. We’ve been out and about, to the theatre, we had a go at axe throwing, a coach trip to Leeds, a Ladies Night with wine tasting, and we held some training sessions about social media.
What else do we do?
We have a monthly walking group, sometimes lunch or a coffee and catch up, and we enjoy the occasional day out. There are opportunities to attend courses and outings with LFWI (Lancashire Federation) and other local WI groups, the Lancashire Quiz night where we enter a couple of teams, and the annual conference which has a mixture of well known speakers and WI members giving us an insight into their lives. Members can also join our committee and get involved that way too.
Members receive a monthly magazine and they have the opportunity to book onto events, access short online courses and all sorts of information from the LFWI on a range of interests and hobbies, some of which is free for WI members.
We are open to suggestions too!
